The battery life failed within the first week, so the cost to repair this is a standard £120. I think I will learn from this and just purchase from new.

Fantastic device — I previously owned a series of iPhones before moving to a Galaxy S3 so I am quite familiar with iDevices. The retina display is beautifully clear and vivid. Those apps that make use of the retina resolution really make the screen shine. Battery life is actually not too bad, you should certainly get a good 6 or 7 hours of heavy use out of one charge, 12+ for less intense usage. Charging is also quite quick for the duration each charge lasts. There are plenty of excellent apps — such as the absolutely wonderful Paper by 53 — that are only available on the iPad and these unique apps really justify the device. The only downside for me is the price of storage. I didn't want to spend a small fortune so I opted for the 16GB default model. Unfortunately, app sizes are a fair bit larger on the iPad, probably owing to the screen size and, in some cases, the extra retina resolution assets needed for the app. Some of the best apps on the iPad will happily consume between 1.5 and 2GB of space... On a 16gb device, you get approximately 14gb max to use once the system has taken its bite... Needless to say, with apps this large, you very quickly get to the point where you have to start deleting tons of stuff to be able to download anything else. It's an annoyance — one that can be bypassed by opting for a larger capacity iPad, though at a premium price. Overall, this is a decent iPad with plenty of screen space, luscious Retina resolution and a massive selection of apps, both exclusive and not, that make perfect use of its capabilities. The limitations of 14gb usable space are starkly felt with the often large app sizes, which serves as the biggest bugbear of the device. Battery life is mostly very good. It is a lot of fun to use and a very well designed device indeed. Bear in mind that the screen is reasonably large which, if you are like me, you'll see as a good thing. But if you'd rather have a more compact device, you might consider checking out the newer iPad Mini as well.Read full review
